Find X8 Mini: Will Oppo Offer a Compact Flagship?

The year 2024 has already seen the launch of several flagship smartphones, including the vivo X200 Pro, Find X8 Pro, Xiaomi 15, and Xiaomi 15 Pro. While Xiaomi has maintained a compact design for its standard model, and Vivo has introduced a Pro mini variant, Oppo's main 2024 lineup currently lacks a similar compact option.

Although the Find X8 boasts impressive specs, it may not appeal to those who prefer smaller phones, especially with more compact choices available from other brands. However, things might change soon, as Digital Chat Station anticipates that Oppo could release a more compact device within the Find X8 series alongside the Find X8 Ultra this spring. This rumour aligns with previous hints from leaker Smart Pikachu.

Oppo has adjusted its release strategy for the Find X series multiple times. The Find X2 and X3 series each featured four models, while the Find X5 lineup was reduced to just three. The Find X6 and X7 series then shrank to two models, introducing the first Ultra model, Find X7 Ultra, in January 2024. Interestingly, the Find X7 series omitted the Pro variant, which may return with the new Find X8 series.

Unfortunately, the leak doesn't offer any details about the compact device's specifications. Vivo's compact flagship sports a 6.31-inch 1.5K display and weighs 187 grams. The standard Find X8 boasts a 6.59-inch screen and a 5630 mAh battery, supporting 80W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. However, the rumored Find X8 Mini might feature a slightly smaller battery.

The Find X8 Ultra is reported to come equipped with a dual-periscope zoom setup with slightly adjusted focal lengths, alongside 10x hybrid zoom support. While the compact model may sacrifice the dual-periscope setup, it's still expected to benefit from Oppo's enhanced image processing and AI-powered camera improvements.
